What Do You Think About Money
Do you have a healthy relationship with money?
The way we think about money has a lot to do with if we are a success or not. If we attract money or if it seems to leave your wallet as fast as it comes in.
One of the things that I did to find out what my thought about money are, was I read the book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker
This book really opened my eyes to why I always felt like I couldn’t keep money.
In the book T. Harv Eker tells us to write down all the things we have ever heard about money.
It could be from your parents, a teacher, preacher or just about anyone in your life.
Here is the list I came up with:
- It’s only money
- What, am I made of money
- Money is evil or the root of evil
- Money can’t but happiness
- It’s just as easy to love a rich man as it is a poor one
- Rich men can’t get into heaven
- Rich people are rich because they take money from the poor
- You can’t take it with you
- Filthy rich
- Money doesn’t grow on trees
- Not everyone can be rich
- We can’t afford it
I hear people saying these things all the time. I used to say them myself but not anymore.
T Harv Eker states in his book that “All the statements you heard about money when you were young remain in your subconscious mind as part of the blueprint that is running your financial life.”
The one really stuck out to me the most was “Rich men can’t get into heaven.”
As a Christian I really struggled with that one. I have a drive and a desire to create wealth for my family, but in the back of my head I always heard “Rich men can’t get into heaven”.
What I have had to do is reprogram my thinking. It’s not money that’s evil it’s the love of money that is evil.
Just because someone is rich doesn’t mean that someone else is poor.
There is enough money to go around for everyone.
It’s just that people are programmed to believe that they don’t have because someone does…
That’s a plain out lie from the pit of hell.
Just because someone is a Christian doesn’t mean they have to be poor!
Change how you think about Money
We need to change how we think about money if we want to have a good relationship with our money!
…Money is a Tool!
…Money is not evil!
…The more money you have the more you can give away.
…The more money you have, the more people you can help.
When you buy something with money it gets distributed to others by way of jobs.
- You buy products
- employees get paid
- they buy products
- more employees get paid
- and so on
…Money gets circulated by spending it.
…If you don’t have any money you can’t spend.
…There is nothing wrong with earning money!
…You deserve to be able to provide for your family.
In conclusion, how you think about money will determine if you have money or not. We need to change the way we think about money and realize that having money is not bad. That just because you have money doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t. You can create wealth if you make a decision to do so!
If you haven’t read the book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T.Karv Eker I highly suggest you do.
You won’t regret it!

Great post Deirdre. Beliefs surrounding money absolutely do have an effect on the money we are able to earn and attract . Challenging and changing those beliefs can be life altering! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comment Linda. You will love Secrets of the Millionaire Mind!
As a Christian, I really resonated with this. It really helped me put into perspective some of my limiting beliefs that you can’t have money and be a good Christian too. I started reading some of T. Harv Ecker’s book – now I’ll have to finish it!
It’s so great to know there are other Christians out there who are working to change their thought patterns to something that says “I am worthy and deserving.” Takes time, but we can do it! Look forward to more of your posts.
Thanks for your comment Joanne, I’m glad my post was a help. It is good to know that others have had the same issues.
T. Harve Ecker “Secrets of The Millionaire Mind” is one of my favorite books. I also love, “The Millionaire Next Door.” I am not sure who wrote it. I read it years ago and it has kept me going ever since. Learning the mindset of millionaires and learning how to create and provide value to the marketplace is the key. Thank You for this great post Deirdre and the value you have provided your readers! I love the list you chose of how people think about money.
