Perspective Is Everything!
Tonight I thought I’d talk about perspective. Not everything is always black and white, alot of times it depends on your perspective. I think your perspective depends on your life experiences. I’m sitting in a different spot tonight. I’m sitting in my chair but this chair isn’t usually in my office. It’s usually in my living room where my Christmas tree is now. This gives me a different perspective. It’s still the same chair, just in a different place. I can still see the same things, just from a different point of view.
With all the stuff that’s been happening with the election, there’s two sides to everybody’s story. So I’m seeing what the democrats see and their perspective on the whole thing. I get what the republicans see and what their point of it all is. Yet everyone sees these things from their own view points. They’re not seeing it from the other sides point of view.
Quite a revelation for me. How you think, and what you see are dependent on your perspective. That’s not only in politics, but also relationships. Look at relationships, there’s his side and/or her side, and then there’s the reality of what really happened. This applies to any disagreements, conflicts, or what have you. So perspective is everything. If you can’t stop for a minute and look at things from the other person’s side of it, your only seeing your own view. You know, your own view. We have to be willing to meet people where they’re at. It’s narrow minded thinkers that only view things from one point. Changing the view sometimes means changing the outcome.
This can apply to business as well. Maybe you joined a company in the past and it didn’t turn out so good. You join a new opportunity, and drag the old perspective of that company with you. Limiting what you can see if you’d chosen to come in with a fresh new perspective. Simply because it is fresh and new. Or let perspective convince you otherwise based on past situations. Perspective can keep you positive and motivated.
So true! Everything seems to be one sided these days. And you are right its every where in relationships, friendships, politic… schools everywhere, even businesses. Everyonewants to work from home but they can’t let go of a bad past experience 🙁
Yes it does seem to be one sided these days Shauna. Thanks for your comment..
I always loved the expression from Wayne Dyer, When You Change the way you look at things, the things you look at change 🙂 Very true Deirdre, Perspective is So Powerful… Two People can see something so totally differently
Me too Helen, Wayne Dyer is awesome. Thanks for your comment.
