Have you ever thought about having your own business and working from home?

I have always wanted to start a business for as long as I can remember. I have attempted this on quite a few occasions.

Here are some of the other businesses I have attempted.

Deco Plants

The very first company I joined was called Deco Plants. I was around 21 at the time and I had just moved into my first apartment. Deco plants was a home party business and we sold potted plants that didn’t have soil but had rocks instead. We also sold a liquid nutrient to keep your plants alive. I used to have to drive to the warehouse to purchase and pick up my plants before each show that I did. I put a table in my walk in closet with a special plant light so that I could have a place to keep the plants until I sold them. This didn’t last very log, because my apt was on the 3rd floor and I had to lug the plants back and forth each time I did a show.

Al Williams

The next business I decided to try was called AL Williams. In AL Williams I had to take a class and get my insurance license.  Along with Term Life insurance we also sold mutual funds. To get started you had to call all your family and friends to get appointments to show them how they could save money buying term life insurance instead of whole life insurance.  I didn’t last very long getting new leads was difficult once I went through my list.

NSA Water Treatment Systems

The next business I tried was NSA Water treatment systems. I was sold on the water treatment systems once my sponsor showed me what was in my water. I bought a bunch of water treatment systems and well didn’t have much luck selling them. So I wound up using them for myself.

Amway

I got into Amway when a friend of mine approached me and showed me the plan. I really liked the Amway model and once I got in I started using all the products because that’s what you are supposed to do. If you didn’t use the products then you weren’t positive. And if you didn’t use the products then when people came to your house and saw store bought products you would lose credibility. In a lot of ways I really enjoyed being in Amway. I enjoyed the weekly meetings at my sponsors house. I enjoyed listening to the tape of the week, they were very motivational, some were hysterical.

What I really liked about Amway was the community. Every 3 months we would travel to a different city and attend their convention. I always enjoyed the conventions and meeting up with others on the team. My biggest problem with Amway was me, I had a hard time prospecting people all the time. I didn’t like calling people on the phone and I hated doing home meeting.

Pampered Chef

I got into Pampered Chef after I went to a Pampered Chef Party. It was lots of fun and I really liked their products. It wasn’t expensive to sign up and I got all this cool stuff in my kit. I was a little shy about doing home parties again but the products were great and well they pretty much sold themselves once people saw them. I actually made money with Pampered Chef doing shows. Most of my shows were around $1000 in sales. I did pretty well. But it was killing my back having to cart the products I was going to use in the demonstrations for each party. Set up then clean up and then pack up and put back in the car then unload it all again when I got home. When I got a promotion at my job I got a pretty good raise so I didn’t need the extra money so much so I stopped doing the parties.

It Works

It Works sells herbal body wraps. I saw an ad on Facebook and I clicked it because I thought it sounded interesting. I didn’t intend to sign up as a distributor I just wanted to try the wraps. The wraps actually worked pretty well but they were small and they were pretty expensive unless you signed up as a distributor. Then you could get them at wholesale. So I signed up and I did a few home parties, but to tell you the truth, I really didn’t like having people take off their clothes and me wrap their bodies. First I would measure them, then mark them where I put the tape measure , then wrap them, wait 45 minutes and then unwrap them and re-measure them. It just felt awkward and I was embarrassed for those I was wrapping.

Never Again

I swore I was done I wasn’t going to do anything else again. I couldn’t find the thing that would work for me. I didn’t like doing home parties, or calling and bugging my family and friends. I didn’t like feeling like I couldn’t live a normal life…like everyone I met or came in contact was a prospect. I wanted to be able to just enjoy my life and not feel like I was always on the lookout for the next prospect.

Why I Joined Empower Network

One day I was on Facebook and I saw a post that someone made about working from home. It peeked my curiosity. I wasn’t really interested in a business for me at the time, but I thought it might be something my son would be interested in. So I contacted the person who made the post and asked for information.

I checked out the information and I really liked what I saw. I showed it to my son thinking he would see what I  saw in it. He wasn’t interested and he was very skeptical. I kept seeing posts on Facebook and well I just couldn’t let it go. I contacted the person again and I did some research on it and I just couldn’t not do it. I saw the vision and the potential.

The thing that I really got excited about was that you didn’t have to make phone calls or do home parties or prospect your family or friends. You could do everything online to build your business right from your computer. So I signed up. I don’t think my sponsor was expecting me to sign up but I saw something and I just couldn’t let it go.

Why I Joined Empower Network and Stayed

At first I just signed up for the Viral Blogging System and the Affiliate account. But as I started going through the 8 Core Commitments I realized that I really needed to get the Inner Circle. The Inner Circle is a series of Audios that are motivational and inspirational. I got the Inner Circle and started listening to them every day while I was working at my job. As I worked I would be listening and take notes. It made the days go by so fast. In a way they reminded me of the tapes I used to listen to when I was in Amway.

About a month after I got in,  Empower Network was having an event in Denver. I decided I had to go to Denver to see what Empower was really like. Before Denver I decided that I would go All In and purchase the rest of the Empower Network products. They were having a special All In meeting on Sunday after the event and I didn’t want to be left out. I felt that I would be missing something if I didn’t get to go to it.

The Denver Event just blew my mind. It was like being at an Amway convention only better. Amway conventions have a lot of entertainment. This was pure learning. I took a book full of notes.

The one thing that really impressed me was they had a whole session on Compliance. Empower Network has a Compliance department and they make sure that all Federal regulations are followed. They had a Compliance attorney that actually went through what was allowed and what was not allowed according to Federal Regulations.  I Love Compliance!

The one thing I have to say about Empower Network events is if you haven’t been to one you need to go to one. You can’t even explain what it’s like to be in a room of people who are so pumped up and motivated. The Denver event really gave me a belief in myself and in Empower Network.

The speakers were all leaders in Empower Network. It was great to get to actually see them in person, most of them I had heard them on the audios I had been listening to. We were able to actually have our pictures taken with the leaders, it was awesome! Meeting the team was great too.

My sponsor was there so I got to meet him in person for the first time . I also got to meet his sponsor my leader Laura Parrish. The team I am a part of was a fairly large group and I really felt like I was part of something great! I love being part of a team of people who really care about you and your success. Empower Network is a great community and I am proud to be a part of it.

Why I continued to stay

I have a vision for my family. To leave a legacy to my children and my grandchildren. I don’t want a mediocre life. I want to make a difference in the lives of my family and those I come in contact with.

It’s really not about money, money is just a tool. It’s about being free to spend my days the way I want to. It’s about not having to work a 9-5 job building someone else’s  dream! It’s about being able to bless those who are less fortunate than I am. It’s about freedom.

Why I left Empower Network

Don’t get me wrong I loved being a part of Empower Network. When I started the vision of the company was to help the new person just starting out.  But after 2+ years of being a part of the company, the vision changed. Empower was no longer a company where the new person could make residual income beginning day one. With the implementation of the new compensation plan they no longer provided day one residual income for the new person, and I no longer felt I could promote it.

I started looking around for another company that I could feel lined up with my vision to help the new person just starting out. I discovered My Lead System Pro (MLSP). With MLSP I can feel confident that the new person coming in has the ability to make residual income on day one.

There are many companies out there to choose from, but what I like about MLSP is no matter what MLM you are promoting you can use the training and support of MLSP to help you grow your MLM.

You have the choice to only promote MLSP or you also can have another business (MLM) as well. They don’t limit you as to what you can do. The training and support is by far the best training I have received. I’m excited to be a part of this awesome company!
