How To Make Homemade Hand Sanitizer Using Essential Oils

Homemade hand sanitizer using essential oilHomemade hand sanitizer using essential oils is a natural alternative to store bought hand sanitizers. Most hand sanitizers contain alcohol. Though alcohol kills germs and bacteria it has to be a mix higher than 60% alcohol for it to be effective. This makes them mostly alcohol diluted with other synthetic ingredients. Making homemade hand sanitizer using essential oils can be a healthy alternative and an affordable solution to killing germs.

I was going to write this as a great family project that benefits germ awareness and prevention. Instead, I know that some kids are curious and like to taste things (like Tide Pods) that maybe they shouldn’t. Homemade hand sanitizer using essential oils should not be taken orally, by mouth, ever…not by children and not by adults. So there’s the warning. It’s up to us to educate our children on natural products to make them conscious of the environment. At the same time, its important to let them know what is appropriate use and what is not. With that said, imagine the alcohol based sanitizers and what they might taste like. It’s no different yet likely rubbing alcohol is more harmful orally and topically than the products used in homemade hand sanitizer using essential oils.
