Creating Healthy Habits For Feeling Young

We know that genetics play a big role in long life, and good health. Research shows our living habits can make a big difference. There are many things we can do to stay feeling young and healthy. Slowing down aging, preventing disease, and feeling energetic doesn’t have to be a “job”. We only need to be more conscious of what we’re doing to, and what we’re putting into our bodies.

8 Ways To Help You Stay Feeling Young and Healthy

1) Attitude
Studies show that those with a positive, optimistic outlook on life, actually live healthier, happier, and longer lives. It’s true you’re only as old as you feel. This doesn’t mean to run out and dress like a teenager, but keep a young curious, adventurous attitude. It’ll keep you feeling young.

2) Healthy Eating
Removing processed food from your diet can have you feeling energic in no time. Processed foods have fewer nutrients, and are full of additives that can cause some of your body systems to slow down. Add in a variety of fruits and vegetables. Eliminate unhealthy fats and insert natural fats (coconut oil, olive oil, etc).

3) Sleeping Habits
Poor sleep habits can wreck havoc on your mind and body. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, and good sleep at that. Well rested people are less likely to become ill. Take an afternoon nap if needed. Feeling sleepy can make us feel “old and slow”. Rest up!

4) Keeping Active
Many people who have long active lives well into their 80’s attest to keeping active and fit as a “fountain of youth” secret. Taking a daily walk, or exercising on a regular basis can help you feel young and healthy no matter what age you are.

5) Stress Reduction
Take time to meditate or relax. 15-20 minutes a day spent in meditation can carry you through the days with an aura of peace and calmness. Take daily time to relax and clear your mind.

6) Stay Social
Social activities can keep you feeling young and healthy, and actually live longer. A Brigham Young study shows those with strong relationships are 50% more likely to live longer. Weekly social activity can encourage feeling young and healthy.

7) The Mind Muscle
Keeping our brains healthy and active is as easy as reading a book or magazine. Take a craft class, learn a foreign language, do crossword puzzles or anything that promotes brain activity.

8) Laughter and Humor
Keep laughing!! Holding onto having a sense of humor will let you walk through life feeling a little lighter. Laughter lowers blood pressure and is a natural stress reliever. Laugh!!

Practicing any or all of these habits will have you feeling young and healthy for longer than if you aren’t. Let me know below what habits you practice to stay young and healthy.
